Harris-Benedict Equation (Revised 1984)

This is an older formula but is still widely referenced in some contexts.

5. How to Use BMR for Weight Loss?

Understanding BMR and TDEE is crucial for weight control:

  • Weight Loss: Daily calorie intake should be < TDEE. A deficit of 300-500 calories is often recommended. However, intake should not drop below your BMR, or your body may enter “starvation mode,” slowing down metabolism and hindering long-term progress.
